Long before we give birth ourselves, we absorb stories about what birth looks like and how it might feel: painful, messy, euphoric, wild, fast, slow, pastel-coloured or black and white. Films, social media, family stories and cultural norms leave their mark.
These images are both personal and political. They offer comfort, create connection and give visibility to (often taboo) experiences. At the same time, they can limit us when we feel our own experience has to match that of others.
As your doula, I accompany you in finding your own path through this web of stories and influences. I listen, share my knowledge, hold space for whatever is present and advocate for what you want and need. Not for the birth others may imagine, but for your own.

FILMIC DOULA WORK

Pregnancy Film
At least three meetings throughout your pregnancy. A documentary approach that captures your experience as it unfolds: natural, honest and unstaged. If you wish, your film can include interviews or your own written reflections. The result is a personal 10-minute documentary about your pregnancy.
Birth Film
Discreet documentary filming during labour and birth, followed by careful editing to create an authentic keepsake of your birth story.
Workshops with Film
Creative spaces to reflect on your own narratives around birth, question internalised images and explore new ways of telling your story.
WORKSHOPS AND RITUALS

Creative workshops exploring pregnancy, birth and transformation through film, writing and embodied practices.
Personal rituals to honour endings, beginnings, grief and transformation.
Offered for individuals, couples and groups.
